I Love New York

I'm going to visit my favorite city in the world this weekend... New York City. Somehow, I can't image a city in the world that could capture what New York has...

Sometimes, Chicago seems a bit conservative for me. I'm ready for the change (even if it is for just a few days).

I think it's the New York attitude which draws me in... I love that part... It's bigger than life.

Studying Russian

The study of Language is one of my favorite topics. The only language I speak fluently is English. However, I've studied Latin (4 years in high school), Russian (2 years in college + 2 years of living with a Russian), Italian (4 years + several trips to Italy for Holiday), French (1 year), and Japanese (1 year).

I feel that the reason I understand how the English language works is because of the study of language (and because of a man named Stanley Fish).

Anyways, I haven't studied language for over a year now, and during the last month I've been going through my old Russian textbooks and I forgot how much I missed it. Somehow, the learning of a language doesn't feel like studying (at least not in the sense that, say, a math book has).

Out of all the languages I've ever studied, I've found Russian and Latin to be my favorite. I simply choose to study Russian now, because it will provide a direct benefit in my life.

Spring Cleaning

I've really been doing a lot of cleaning this week. It feels good. Your environment has an effect on your mood. It's made me much more productive.

My parents are visiting!

My parents are coming up on Friday night to spend the evening with me and my friends before they head out on holiday in Mexico. I was thinking about taking them for sushi and then to a couple of piano bars in Gold Coast. Since I rarely leave the safety of urban environments, I see them far less than I'd like (even though they only live three hours away). So, I'm kind of excited for Friday.

What else is happening...

I saw Sex and the City: The Movie at midnight for the premier (so much fun).

I bought 2 front row tickets to Madonna's Sticky and Sweet Tour this October. If they announce a tour date in Moscow, I'll probably buy 2 more tickets for there too.

My birthday is coming up and I was thinking of randomly taking a mini-holiday for the weekend and not telling anyone.

That's it.
